When thou goest out³³¹⁸ to battle⁴⁴²¹ against thine enemies,³⁴¹ and seest⁷²⁰⁰ horses,⁵⁴⁸³ and chariots,⁷³⁹³ and a people⁵⁹⁷¹ more⁷²²⁷ than thou, be not afraid³³⁷² of them: for Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ thy Elohim⁴³⁰ is with thee, which brought thee up⁵⁹²⁷ out of the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt.⁴⁷¹⁴

And it shall be, when ye are come nigh⁷¹²⁶ unto the battle,⁴⁴²¹ that the priest³⁵⁴⁸ shall approach⁵⁰⁶⁶ and speak¹⁶⁹⁶ unto the people,⁵⁹⁷¹

And shall say⁵⁵⁹ unto them, Hear,⁸⁰⁸⁵ O Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ ye approach⁷¹³¹ this day³¹¹⁷ unto battle⁴⁴²¹ against your enemies:³⁴¹ let not your hearts³⁸²⁴ faint,⁷⁴⁰¹ fear³³⁷² not, and do not tremble,²⁶⁴⁸ neither be ye terrified⁶²⁰⁶ because⁶⁴⁴⁰ of them;

For Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ your Elohim⁴³⁰ is he that goeth¹⁹⁸⁰ with you, to fight³⁸⁹⁸ for you against your enemies,³⁴¹ to save³⁴⁶⁷ you.

And the officers⁷⁸⁶⁰ shall speak¹⁶⁹⁶ unto the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ saying,⁵⁵⁹ What man³⁷⁶ is there that hath built¹¹²⁹ a new²³¹⁹ house,¹⁰⁰⁴ and hath not dedicated²⁵⁹⁶ it? let him go³²¹² and return⁷⁷²⁵ to his house,¹⁰⁰⁴ lest he die⁴¹⁹¹ in the battle,⁴⁴²¹ and another³¹² man³⁷⁶ dedicate²⁵⁹⁶ it.

And what man³⁷⁶ is he that hath planted⁵¹⁹³ a vineyard,³⁷⁵⁴ and hath not yet eaten²⁴⁹⁰ of it? let him also go³²¹² and return⁷⁷²⁵ unto his house,¹⁰⁰⁴ lest he die⁴¹⁹¹ in the battle,⁴⁴²¹ and another³¹² man³⁷⁶ eat²⁴⁹⁰ of it.

And what man³⁷⁶ is there that hath betrothed⁷⁸¹ a wife,⁸⁰² and hath not taken³⁹⁴⁷ her? let him go³²¹² and return⁷⁷²⁵ unto his house,¹⁰⁰⁴ lest he die⁴¹⁹¹ in the battle,⁴⁴²¹ and another³¹² man³⁷⁶ take³⁹⁴⁷ her.

And the officers⁷⁸⁶⁰ shall speak¹⁶⁹⁶ further³²⁵⁴ unto the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ and they shall say,⁵⁵⁹ What man³⁷⁶ is there that is fearful³³⁷³ and fainthearted?⁷³⁹⁰ let him go³²¹² and return⁷⁷²⁵ unto his house,¹⁰⁰⁴ lest his brethren's²⁵¹ heart³⁸²⁴ faint⁴⁵⁴⁹ as well as his heart.³⁸²⁴

And it shall be, when the officers⁷⁸⁶⁰ have made an end³⁶¹⁵ of speaking¹⁶⁹⁶ unto the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ that they shall make⁶⁴⁸⁵ captains⁸²⁶⁹ of the armies⁶⁶³⁵ to lead⁷²¹⁸ the people.⁵⁹⁷¹

When thou comest nigh⁷¹²⁶ unto a city⁵⁸⁹² to fight³⁸⁹⁸ against it, then proclaim⁷¹²¹ peace⁷⁹⁶⁵ unto it.

And it shall be, if it make thee answer⁶⁰³⁰ of peace,⁷⁹⁶⁵ and open⁶⁶⁰⁵ unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people⁵⁹⁷¹ that is found⁴⁶⁷² therein shall be tributaries⁴⁵²² unto thee, and they shall serve⁵⁶⁴⁷ thee.

And if it will make no peace⁷⁹⁹⁹ with thee, but will make⁶²¹³ war⁴⁴²¹ against thee, then thou shalt besiege⁶⁶⁹⁶ it:

And when Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ thy Elohim⁴³⁰ hath delivered⁵⁴¹⁴ it into thine hands,³⁰²⁷ thou shalt smite⁵²²¹ every male²¹³⁸ thereof with the edge⁶³¹⁰ of the sword:²⁷¹⁹

But the women,⁸⁰² and the little ones,²⁹⁴⁵ and the cattle,⁹²⁹ and all that is in the city,⁵⁸⁹² even all the spoil⁷⁹⁹⁸ thereof, shalt thou take⁹⁶² unto thyself; and thou shalt eat³⁹⁸ the spoil⁷⁹⁹⁸ of thine enemies,³⁴¹ which Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ thy Elohim⁴³⁰ hath given⁵⁴¹⁴ thee.

Thus shalt thou do⁶²¹³ unto all the cities⁵⁸⁹² which are very³⁹⁶⁶ far off⁷³⁵⁰ from thee, which²⁰⁰⁷ are not of the cities⁵⁸⁹² of these nations.¹⁴⁷¹

But of the cities⁵⁸⁹² of these people,⁵⁹⁷¹ which Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ thy Elohim⁴³⁰ doth give⁵⁴¹⁴ thee for an inheritance,⁵¹⁵⁹ thou shalt save alive²⁴²¹ nothing that breatheth:⁵³⁹⁷

But thou shalt utterly²⁷⁶³ destroy²⁷⁶³ them; namely, the Hittites,²⁸⁵⁰ and the Amorites,⁵⁶⁷ the Canaanites,³⁶⁶⁹ and the Perizzites,⁶⁵²² the Hivites,²³⁴⁰ and the Jebusites;²⁹⁸³ as Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ thy Elohim⁴³⁰ hath commanded⁶⁶⁸⁰ thee:

That they teach³⁹²⁵ you not to do⁶²¹³ after all their abominations,⁸⁴⁴¹ which they have done⁶²¹³ unto their mighty ones;⁴³⁰ so should ye sin²³⁹⁸ against Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ your Elohim.⁴³⁰

When thou shalt besiege⁶⁶⁹⁶ a city⁵⁸⁹² a long⁷²²⁷ time,³¹¹⁷ in making war³⁸⁹⁸ against it to take⁸⁶¹⁰ it, thou shalt not destroy⁷⁸⁴³ the trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ thereof by forcing⁵⁰⁸⁰ an axe¹⁶³¹ against them: for thou mayest eat³⁹⁸ of them, and thou shalt not cut them down³⁷⁷² (for the tree⁶⁰⁸⁶ of the field⁷⁷⁰⁴ is man's¹²⁰ life) to employ⁹³⁵ them in the siege:⁴⁶⁹²

Only the trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ which thou knowest³⁰⁴⁵ that they be not trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ for meat,³⁹⁷⁸ thou shalt destroy⁷⁸⁴³ and cut them down;³⁷⁷² and thou shalt build¹¹²⁹ bulwarks⁴⁶⁹² against the city⁵⁸⁹² that maketh⁶²¹³ war⁴⁴²¹ with thee, until it be subdued.³³⁸¹
