Acts 23
23:1

And1161 Paul3972, earnestly beholding816 the council4892, said2036, Men435 and brethren80, I1473 have lived4176 in all3956 good18 conscience4893 before Elohim2316 until891 this5026 day2250.

23:2

And1161 the high priest749 Ananias367 commanded2004 them that stood by3936 him846 to smite5180 him846 on the mouth4750.

23:3

Then5119 said2036 Paul3972 unto4314 him846, Elohim2316 shall3195 smite5180 thee4571, thou whited2867 wall5109: for2532 sittest2521 thou4771 to judge2919 me3165 after2596 the law3551, and2532 commandest2753 me3165 to be smitten5180 contrary to the law3891?

23:4

And1161 they that stood by3936 said2036, Revilest thou3058 Yahweh's2316 high priest749?

23:5

Then5037 said5346 Paul3972, I wist1492 not3756, brethren80, that3754 he was2076 the high priest749: for1063 it is written1125, Thou shalt2046 not3756 speak2046 evil2560 of the ruler758 of thy4675 people2992.

23:6

But1161 when Paul3972 perceived1097 that3754 the one1520 part3313 were2076 Sadducees4523, and1161 the other2087 Pharisees5330, he cried out2896 in1722 the council4892, Men435 and brethren80, I1473 am1510 a Pharisee5330, the son5207 of a Pharisee5330: of4012 the hope1680 and2532 resurrection386 of the dead3498 I1473 am called in question2919.

23:7

And1161 when he846 had2980 so5124 said2980, there arose1096 a dissension4714 between the Pharisees5330 and2532 the Sadducees4523: and2532 the multitude4128 was divided4977.

23:8

For1063 the Sadducees4523 say3004 that there is1511 no3361 resurrection386, neither3366 angel32, nor3383 spirit4151: but1161 the Pharisees5330 confess3670 both297.

23:9

And1161 there arose1096 a great3173 cry2906: and2532 the scribes1122 that were of the Pharisees'5330 part3313 arose450, and strove1264, saying3004, We find2147 no3762 evil2556 in1722 this5129 man444: but1161 if1487 a spirit4151 or2228 an angel32 hath spoken2980 to him846, let us2313 not3361 fight2313 against Yahweh.

23:10

And1161 when there arose1096 a great4183 dissension4714, the chief captain5506, fearing2125 lest3361 Paul3972 should have been pulled in pieces1288 of5259 them846, commanded2753 the soldiers4753 to go down2597, and to take726 him846 by force726 from1537 among3319 them846, and5037 to bring71 him into1519 the castle3925.

23:11

And1161 the night3571 following1966 Yahweh2962 stood by2186 him846, and said2036, Be of good cheer2293, Paul3972: for1063 as5613 thou hast testified1263 of4012 me1700 in1519 Jerusalem2419, so3779 must1163 thou4571 bear witness3140 also2532 at1519 Rome4516.

23:12

And1161 when it was1096 day2250, certain5100 of the Jews2453 banded together4160, and bound332 themselves1438 under a curse332, saying3004 that they would5315 neither3383 eat5315 nor3383 drink4095 till2193 they had killed615 Paul3972.

23:13

And1161 they were2258 more than4119 forty5062 which3588 had made4160 this5026 conspiracy4945.

23:14

And they3748 came to4334 the chief priests749 and2532 elders4245, and said2036, We have bound332 ourselves1438 under a great curse331, that we will eat1089 nothing3367 until2193 we have slain615 Paul3972.

23:15

Now3568 therefore3767 ye5210 with4862 the council4892 signify1718 to the chief captain5506 that3704 he bring2609 him846 down2609 unto4314 you5209 to morrow839, as5613 though ye would3195 enquire1231 something more perfectly197 concerning4012 him846: and1161 we2249, or ever4253 he846 come near1448, are2070 ready2092 to kill337 him846.

23:16

And1161 when Paul's3972 sister's79 son5207 heard191 of their lying in wait1749, he went3854 and2532 entered1525 into1519 the castle3925, and told518 Paul3972.

23:17

Then1161 Paul3972 called4341 one1520 of the centurions1543 unto him, and said5346, Bring520 this5126 young man3494 unto4314 the chief captain5506: for1063 he hath2192 a certain thing5100 to tell518 him846.

23:18

So3767 he took3880 him846, and brought71 him to4314 the chief captain5506, and2532 said5346, Paul3972 the prisoner1198 called4341 me3165 unto him, and prayed me2065 to bring71 this5126 young man3494 unto4314 thee4571, who hath2192 something5100 to say2980 unto thee4671.

23:19

Then1161 the chief captain5506 took1949 him846 by the hand5495, and2532 went with him aside402 privately2596, and asked4441 him, What5101 is2076 that3739 thou hast2192 to tell518 me3427?

23:20

And1161 he said2036, The Jews2453 have agreed4934 to desire2065 thee4571 that3704 thou wouldest bring down2609 Paul3972 to morrow839 into1519 the council4892, as5613 though they would3195 enquire4441 somewhat5100 of4012 him846 more perfectly197.

23:21

But3767 do3982 not3361 thou4771 yield3982 unto them846: for1063 there lie in wait for1748 him846 of1537 them846 more than4119 forty5062 men435, which3748 have bound332 themselves1438 with an oath332, that they will5315 neither3383 eat5315 nor3383 drink4095 till2193 they have killed337 him846: and2532 now3568 are they1526 ready2092, looking for4327 a promise1860 from575 thee4675.

23:22

So3303 the chief captain5506 then let630 the young man3494 depart630, and charged3853 him, See thou tell1583 no man3367 that3754 thou hast shewed1718 these things5023 to4314 me3165.

23:23

And2532 he called unto4341 him5100 two1417 centurions1543, saying2036, Make ready2090 two hundred1250 soldiers4757 to3704 go4198 to2193 Caesarea2542, and2532 horsemen2460 threescore and ten1440, and2532 spearmen1187 two hundred1250, at575 the third5154 hour5610 of the night3571;

23:24

And5037 provide3936 them beasts2934, that2443 they may set1913 Paul3972 on1913, and bring him safe1295 unto4314 Felix5344 the governor2232.

23:25

And he wrote1125 a letter1992 after4023 this5126 manner5179:

23:26

Claudius2804 Lysias3079 unto the most excellent2903 governor2232 Felix5344 sendeth greeting5463.

23:27

This5126 man435 was taken4815 of5259 the Jews2453, and2532 should3195 have been killed337 of5259 them846: then came I2186 with4862 an army4753, and rescued1807 him846, having understood3129 that3754 he was2076 a Roman4514.

23:28

And1161 when1014 I would1014 have known1097 the cause156 wherefore1223 they accused1458 him846, I brought2609 him846 forth2609 into1519 their846 council4892:

23:29

Whom3739 I perceived2147 to be accused1458 of4012 questions2213 of their846 law3551, but1161 to have2192 nothing3367 laid to his charge1462 worthy514 of death2288 or2228 of bonds1199.

23:30

And1161 when it was told3377 me3427 how that5259 the Jews2453 laid wait1917 for1519 the man435, I sent3992 straightway1824 to4314 thee4571, and gave commandment3853 to his accusers2725 also2532 to say3004 before1909 thee4675 what they had against4314 him846. Farewell4517.

23:31

Then3767 the soldiers4757, as2596 it was commanded1299 them846, took353 Paul3972, and brought71 him by1223 night3571 to1519 Antipatris494.

23:32

On the morrow1887 they left1439 the horsemen2460 to go4198 with4862 him846, and returned5290 to1519 the castle3925:

23:33

Who3748, when they came1525 to1519 Caesarea2542, and2532 delivered325 the epistle1992 to the governor2232, presented3936 Paul3972 also2532 before him846.

23:34

And1161 when the governor2232 had read314 the letter,2532 he asked1905 of1537 what4169 province1885 he was2076. And2532 when he understood4441 that3754 he was of575 Cilicia2791;

23:35

I will hear1251 thee4675, said he5346, when3752 thine4675 accusers2725 are3854 also2532 come3854. And5037 he commanded2753 him846 to be kept5442 in1722 Herod's2264 judgment hall4232.
