And¹¹⁶¹ Paul³⁹⁷², earnestly beholding⁸¹⁶ the council⁴⁸⁹², said²⁰³⁶, Men⁴³⁵ and brethren⁸⁰, I¹⁴⁷³ have lived⁴¹⁷⁶ in all³⁹⁵⁶ good¹⁸ conscience⁴⁸⁹³ before Elohim²³¹⁶ until⁸⁹¹ this⁵⁰²⁶ day²²⁵⁰.

And¹¹⁶¹ the high priest⁷⁴⁹ Ananias³⁶⁷ commanded²⁰⁰⁴ them that stood by³⁹³⁶ him⁸⁴⁶ to smite⁵¹⁸⁰ him⁸⁴⁶ on the mouth⁴⁷⁵⁰.

Then⁵¹¹⁹ said²⁰³⁶ Paul³⁹⁷² unto⁴³¹⁴ him⁸⁴⁶, Elohim²³¹⁶ shall³¹⁹⁵ smite⁵¹⁸⁰ thee⁴⁵⁷¹, thou whited²⁸⁶⁷ wall⁵¹⁰⁹: for²⁵³² sittest²⁵²¹ thou⁴⁷⁷¹ to judge²⁹¹⁹ me³¹⁶⁵ after²⁵⁹⁶ the law³⁵⁵¹, and²⁵³² commandest²⁷⁵³ me³¹⁶⁵ to be smitten⁵¹⁸⁰ contrary to the law³⁸⁹¹?

And¹¹⁶¹ they that stood by³⁹³⁶ said²⁰³⁶, Revilest thou³⁰⁵⁸ Yahweh's²³¹⁶ high priest⁷⁴⁹?

Then⁵⁰³⁷ said⁵³⁴⁶ Paul³⁹⁷², I wist¹⁴⁹² not³⁷⁵⁶, brethren⁸⁰, that³⁷⁵⁴ he was²⁰⁷⁶ the high priest⁷⁴⁹: for¹⁰⁶³ it is written¹¹²⁵, Thou shalt²⁰⁴⁶ not³⁷⁵⁶ speak²⁰⁴⁶ evil²⁵⁶⁰ of the ruler⁷⁵⁸ of thy⁴⁶⁷⁵ people²⁹⁹².

But¹¹⁶¹ when Paul³⁹⁷² perceived¹⁰⁹⁷ that³⁷⁵⁴ the one¹⁵²⁰ part³³¹³ were²⁰⁷⁶ Sadducees⁴⁵²³, and¹¹⁶¹ the other²⁰⁸⁷ Pharisees⁵³³⁰, he cried out²⁸⁹⁶ in¹⁷²² the council⁴⁸⁹², Men⁴³⁵ and brethren⁸⁰, I¹⁴⁷³ am¹⁵¹⁰ a Pharisee⁵³³⁰, the son⁵²⁰⁷ of a Pharisee⁵³³⁰: of⁴⁰¹² the hope¹⁶⁸⁰ and²⁵³² resurrection³⁸⁶ of the dead³⁴⁹⁸ I¹⁴⁷³ am called in question²⁹¹⁹.

Matthew 22:23

And¹¹⁶¹ when he⁸⁴⁶ had²⁹⁸⁰ so⁵¹²⁴ said²⁹⁸⁰, there arose¹⁰⁹⁶ a dissension⁴⁷¹⁴ between the Pharisees⁵³³⁰ and²⁵³² the Sadducees⁴⁵²³: and²⁵³² the multitude⁴¹²⁸ was divided⁴⁹⁷⁷.

For¹⁰⁶³ the Sadducees⁴⁵²³ say³⁰⁰⁴ that there is¹⁵¹¹ no³³⁶¹ resurrection³⁸⁶, neither³³⁶⁶ angel³², nor³³⁸³ spirit⁴¹⁵¹: but¹¹⁶¹ the Pharisees⁵³³⁰ confess³⁶⁷⁰ both²⁹⁷.

And¹¹⁶¹ there arose¹⁰⁹⁶ a great³¹⁷³ cry²⁹⁰⁶: and²⁵³² the scribes¹¹²² that were of the Pharisees'⁵³³⁰ part³³¹³ arose⁴⁵⁰, and strove¹²⁶⁴, saying³⁰⁰⁴, We find²¹⁴⁷ no³⁷⁶² evil²⁵⁵⁶ in¹⁷²² this⁵¹²⁹ man⁴⁴⁴: but¹¹⁶¹ if¹⁴⁸⁷ a spirit⁴¹⁵¹ or²²²⁸ an angel³² hath spoken²⁹⁸⁰ to him⁸⁴⁶, let us²³¹³ not³³⁶¹ fight²³¹³ against Yahweh.

And¹¹⁶¹ when there arose¹⁰⁹⁶ a great⁴¹⁸³ dissension⁴⁷¹⁴, the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶, fearing²¹²⁵ lest³³⁶¹ Paul³⁹⁷² should have been pulled in pieces¹²⁸⁸ of⁵²⁵⁹ them⁸⁴⁶, commanded²⁷⁵³ the soldiers⁴⁷⁵³ to go down²⁵⁹⁷, and to take⁷²⁶ him⁸⁴⁶ by force⁷²⁶ from¹⁵³⁷ among³³¹⁹ them⁸⁴⁶, and⁵⁰³⁷ to bring⁷¹ him into¹⁵¹⁹ the castle³⁹²⁵.

And¹¹⁶¹ the night³⁵⁷¹ following¹⁹⁶⁶ Yahweh²⁹⁶² stood by²¹⁸⁶ him⁸⁴⁶, and said²⁰³⁶, Be of good cheer²²⁹³, Paul³⁹⁷²: for¹⁰⁶³ as⁵⁶¹³ thou hast testified¹²⁶³ of⁴⁰¹² me¹⁷⁰⁰ in¹⁵¹⁹ Jerusalem²⁴¹⁹, so³⁷⁷⁹ must¹¹⁶³ thou⁴⁵⁷¹ bear witness³¹⁴⁰ also²⁵³² at¹⁵¹⁹ Rome⁴⁵¹⁶.

And¹¹⁶¹ when it was¹⁰⁹⁶ day²²⁵⁰, certain⁵¹⁰⁰ of the Jews²⁴⁵³ banded together⁴¹⁶⁰, and bound³³² themselves¹⁴³⁸ under a curse³³², saying³⁰⁰⁴ that they would⁵³¹⁵ neither³³⁸³ eat⁵³¹⁵ nor³³⁸³ drink⁴⁰⁹⁵ till²¹⁹³ they had killed⁶¹⁵ Paul³⁹⁷².

And¹¹⁶¹ they were²²⁵⁸ more than⁴¹¹⁹ forty⁵⁰⁶² which³⁵⁸⁸ had made⁴¹⁶⁰ this⁵⁰²⁶ conspiracy⁴⁹⁴⁵.

And they³⁷⁴⁸ came to⁴³³⁴ the chief priests⁷⁴⁹ and²⁵³² elders⁴²⁴⁵, and said²⁰³⁶, We have bound³³² ourselves¹⁴³⁸ under a great curse³³¹, that we will eat¹⁰⁸⁹ nothing³³⁶⁷ until²¹⁹³ we have slain⁶¹⁵ Paul³⁹⁷².

Now³⁵⁶⁸ therefore³⁷⁶⁷ ye⁵²¹⁰ with⁴⁸⁶² the council⁴⁸⁹² signify¹⁷¹⁸ to the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶ that³⁷⁰⁴ he bring²⁶⁰⁹ him⁸⁴⁶ down²⁶⁰⁹ unto⁴³¹⁴ you⁵²⁰⁹ to morrow⁸³⁹, as⁵⁶¹³ though ye would³¹⁹⁵ enquire¹²³¹ something more perfectly¹⁹⁷ concerning⁴⁰¹² him⁸⁴⁶: and¹¹⁶¹ we²²⁴⁹, or ever⁴²⁵³ he⁸⁴⁶ come near¹⁴⁴⁸, are²⁰⁷⁰ ready²⁰⁹² to kill³³⁷ him⁸⁴⁶.

And¹¹⁶¹ when Paul's³⁹⁷² sister's⁷⁹ son⁵²⁰⁷ heard¹⁹¹ of their lying in wait¹⁷⁴⁹, he went³⁸⁵⁴ and²⁵³² entered¹⁵²⁵ into¹⁵¹⁹ the castle³⁹²⁵, and told⁵¹⁸ Paul³⁹⁷².

Then¹¹⁶¹ Paul³⁹⁷² called⁴³⁴¹ one¹⁵²⁰ of the centurions¹⁵⁴³ unto him, and said⁵³⁴⁶, Bring⁵²⁰ this⁵¹²⁶ young man³⁴⁹⁴ unto⁴³¹⁴ the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶: for¹⁰⁶³ he hath²¹⁹² a certain thing⁵¹⁰⁰ to tell⁵¹⁸ him⁸⁴⁶.

So³⁷⁶⁷ he took³⁸⁸⁰ him⁸⁴⁶, and brought⁷¹ him to⁴³¹⁴ the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶, and²⁵³² said⁵³⁴⁶, Paul³⁹⁷² the prisoner¹¹⁹⁸ called⁴³⁴¹ me³¹⁶⁵ unto him, and prayed me²⁰⁶⁵ to bring⁷¹ this⁵¹²⁶ young man³⁴⁹⁴ unto⁴³¹⁴ thee⁴⁵⁷¹, who hath²¹⁹² something⁵¹⁰⁰ to say²⁹⁸⁰ unto thee⁴⁶⁷¹.

Then¹¹⁶¹ the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶ took¹⁹⁴⁹ him⁸⁴⁶ by the hand⁵⁴⁹⁵, and²⁵³² went with him aside⁴⁰² privately²⁵⁹⁶, and asked⁴⁴⁴¹ him, What⁵¹⁰¹ is²⁰⁷⁶ that³⁷³⁹ thou hast²¹⁹² to tell⁵¹⁸ me³⁴²⁷?

And¹¹⁶¹ he said²⁰³⁶, The Jews²⁴⁵³ have agreed⁴⁹³⁴ to desire²⁰⁶⁵ thee⁴⁵⁷¹ that³⁷⁰⁴ thou wouldest bring down²⁶⁰⁹ Paul³⁹⁷² to morrow⁸³⁹ into¹⁵¹⁹ the council⁴⁸⁹², as⁵⁶¹³ though they would³¹⁹⁵ enquire⁴⁴⁴¹ somewhat⁵¹⁰⁰ of⁴⁰¹² him⁸⁴⁶ more perfectly¹⁹⁷.

But³⁷⁶⁷ do³⁹⁸² not³³⁶¹ thou⁴⁷⁷¹ yield³⁹⁸² unto them⁸⁴⁶: for¹⁰⁶³ there lie in wait for¹⁷⁴⁸ him⁸⁴⁶ of¹⁵³⁷ them⁸⁴⁶ more than⁴¹¹⁹ forty⁵⁰⁶² men⁴³⁵, which³⁷⁴⁸ have bound³³² themselves¹⁴³⁸ with an oath³³², that they will⁵³¹⁵ neither³³⁸³ eat⁵³¹⁵ nor³³⁸³ drink⁴⁰⁹⁵ till²¹⁹³ they have killed³³⁷ him⁸⁴⁶: and²⁵³² now³⁵⁶⁸ are they¹⁵²⁶ ready²⁰⁹², looking for⁴³²⁷ a promise¹⁸⁶⁰ from⁵⁷⁵ thee⁴⁶⁷⁵.

So³³⁰³ the chief captain⁵⁵⁰⁶ then let⁶³⁰ the young man³⁴⁹⁴ depart⁶³⁰, and charged³⁸⁵³ him, See thou tell¹⁵⁸³ no man³³⁶⁷ that³⁷⁵⁴ thou hast shewed¹⁷¹⁸ these things⁵⁰²³ to⁴³¹⁴ me³¹⁶⁵.

And²⁵³² he called unto⁴³⁴¹ him⁵¹⁰⁰ two¹⁴¹⁷ centurions¹⁵⁴³, saying²⁰³⁶, Make ready²⁰⁹⁰ two hundred¹²⁵⁰ soldiers⁴⁷⁵⁷ to³⁷⁰⁴ go⁴¹⁹⁸ to²¹⁹³ Caesarea²⁵⁴², and²⁵³² horsemen²⁴⁶⁰ threescore and ten¹⁴⁴⁰, and²⁵³² spearmen¹¹⁸⁷ two hundred¹²⁵⁰, at⁵⁷⁵ the third⁵¹⁵⁴ hour⁵⁶¹⁰ of the night³⁵⁷¹;

And⁵⁰³⁷ provide³⁹³⁶ them beasts²⁹³⁴, that²⁴⁴³ they may set¹⁹¹³ Paul³⁹⁷² on¹⁹¹³, and bring him safe¹²⁹⁵ unto⁴³¹⁴ Felix⁵³⁴⁴ the governor²²³².

And he wrote¹¹²⁵ a letter¹⁹⁹² after⁴⁰²³ this⁵¹²⁶ manner⁵¹⁷⁹:

Claudius²⁸⁰⁴ Lysias³⁰⁷⁹ unto the most excellent²⁹⁰³ governor²²³² Felix⁵³⁴⁴ sendeth greeting⁵⁴⁶³.

This⁵¹²⁶ man⁴³⁵ was taken⁴⁸¹⁵ of⁵²⁵⁹ the Jews²⁴⁵³, and²⁵³² should³¹⁹⁵ have been killed³³⁷ of⁵²⁵⁹ them⁸⁴⁶: then came I²¹⁸⁶ with⁴⁸⁶² an army⁴⁷⁵³, and rescued¹⁸⁰⁷ him⁸⁴⁶, having understood³¹²⁹ that³⁷⁵⁴ he was²⁰⁷⁶ a Roman⁴⁵¹⁴.

And¹¹⁶¹ when¹⁰¹⁴ I would¹⁰¹⁴ have known¹⁰⁹⁷ the cause¹⁵⁶ wherefore¹²²³ they accused¹⁴⁵⁸ him⁸⁴⁶, I brought²⁶⁰⁹ him⁸⁴⁶ forth²⁶⁰⁹ into¹⁵¹⁹ their⁸⁴⁶ council⁴⁸⁹²:

Whom³⁷³⁹ I perceived²¹⁴⁷ to be accused¹⁴⁵⁸ of⁴⁰¹² questions²²¹³ of their⁸⁴⁶ law³⁵⁵¹, but¹¹⁶¹ to have²¹⁹² nothing³³⁶⁷ laid to his charge¹⁴⁶² worthy⁵¹⁴ of death²²⁸⁸ or²²²⁸ of bonds¹¹⁹⁹.

And¹¹⁶¹ when it was told³³⁷⁷ me³⁴²⁷ how that⁵²⁵⁹ the Jews²⁴⁵³ laid wait¹⁹¹⁷ for¹⁵¹⁹ the man⁴³⁵, I sent³⁹⁹² straightway¹⁸²⁴ to⁴³¹⁴ thee⁴⁵⁷¹, and gave commandment³⁸⁵³ to his accusers²⁷²⁵ also²⁵³² to say³⁰⁰⁴ before¹⁹⁰⁹ thee⁴⁶⁷⁵ what they had against⁴³¹⁴ him⁸⁴⁶. Farewell⁴⁵¹⁷.

Then³⁷⁶⁷ the soldiers⁴⁷⁵⁷, as²⁵⁹⁶ it was commanded¹²⁹⁹ them⁸⁴⁶, took³⁵³ Paul³⁹⁷², and brought⁷¹ him by¹²²³ night³⁵⁷¹ to¹⁵¹⁹ Antipatris⁴⁹⁴.

On the morrow¹⁸⁸⁷ they left¹⁴³⁹ the horsemen²⁴⁶⁰ to go⁴¹⁹⁸ with⁴⁸⁶² him⁸⁴⁶, and returned⁵²⁹⁰ to¹⁵¹⁹ the castle³⁹²⁵:

Who³⁷⁴⁸, when they came¹⁵²⁵ to¹⁵¹⁹ Caesarea²⁵⁴², and²⁵³² delivered³²⁵ the epistle¹⁹⁹² to the governor²²³², presented³⁹³⁶ Paul³⁹⁷² also²⁵³² before him⁸⁴⁶.

And¹¹⁶¹ when the governor²²³² had read³¹⁴ the letter,²⁵³² he asked¹⁹⁰⁵ of¹⁵³⁷ what⁴¹⁶⁹ province¹⁸⁸⁵ he was²⁰⁷⁶. And²⁵³² when he understood⁴⁴⁴¹ that³⁷⁵⁴ he was of⁵⁷⁵ Cilicia²⁷⁹¹;

I will hear¹²⁵¹ thee⁴⁶⁷⁵, said he⁵³⁴⁶, when³⁷⁵² thine⁴⁶⁷⁵ accusers²⁷²⁵ are³⁸⁵⁴ also²⁵³² come³⁸⁵⁴. And⁵⁰³⁷ he commanded²⁷⁵³ him⁸⁴⁶ to be kept⁵⁴⁴² in¹⁷²² Herod's²²⁶⁴ judgment hall⁴²³².
