And the word¹⁶⁹⁷ of Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ came unto me, saying,⁵⁵⁹

Son¹¹²¹ of man,¹²⁰ put forth²³³⁰ a riddle,²⁴²⁰ and speak⁴⁹¹¹ a parable⁴⁹¹² unto the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Israel;³⁴⁷⁸

And say,⁵⁵⁹ Thus saith⁵⁵⁹ my Sovereign¹³⁶ Yahweh;³⁰⁶⁹ A great¹⁴¹⁹ eagle⁵⁴⁰⁴ with great¹⁴¹⁹ wings,³⁶⁷¹ longwinged,⁸³ full⁴³⁹² of feathers,⁵¹³³ which had divers colours,⁷⁵⁵³ came⁹³⁵ unto Lebanon,³⁸⁴⁴ and took³⁹⁴⁷ the highest branch⁶⁷⁸⁸ of the cedar:⁷³⁰

He cropped off⁶⁹⁹⁸ the top⁷²¹⁸ of his young twigs,³²⁴² and carried⁹³⁵ it into a land⁷⁷⁶ of traffick;³⁶⁶⁷ he set⁷⁷⁶⁰ it in a city⁵⁸⁹² of merchants.⁷⁴⁰²

He took³⁹⁴⁷ also of the seed²²³³ of the land,⁷⁷⁶ and planted⁵⁴¹⁴ it in a fruitful²²³³ field;⁷⁷⁰⁴ he placed³⁹⁴⁷ it by great⁷²²⁷ waters,⁴³²⁵ and set⁷⁷⁶⁰ it as a willow tree.⁶⁸⁵¹

And it grew,⁶⁷⁷⁹ and became a spreading⁵⁶²⁸ vine¹⁶¹² of low⁸²¹⁷ stature,⁶⁹⁶⁷ whose branches¹⁸⁰⁸ turned⁶⁴³⁷ toward him, and the roots⁸³²⁸ thereof were under him: so it became a vine,¹⁶¹² and brought forth⁶²¹³ branches,⁹⁰⁵ and shot forth⁷⁹⁷¹ sprigs.⁶²⁸⁸

There was also another²⁵⁹ great¹⁴¹⁹ eagle⁵⁴⁰⁴ with great¹⁴¹⁹ wings³⁶⁷¹ and many⁷²²⁷ feathers:⁵¹³³ and, behold, this vine¹⁶¹² did bend³⁷¹⁹ her roots⁸³²⁸ toward him, and shot forth⁷⁹⁷¹ her branches¹⁸⁰⁸ toward him, that he might water⁸²⁴⁸ it by the furrows⁶¹⁷⁰ of her plantation.⁴³⁰²

It was planted⁸³⁶² in a good²⁸⁹⁶ soil⁷⁷⁰⁴ by great⁷²²⁷ waters,⁴³²⁵ that it might bring forth⁶²¹³ branches,⁶⁰⁵⁷ and that it might bear⁵³⁷⁵ fruit,⁶⁵²⁹ that it might be a goodly¹⁵⁵ vine.¹⁶¹²

Say⁵⁵⁹ thou, Thus saith⁵⁵⁹ my Sovereign¹³⁶ Yahweh;³⁰⁶⁹ Shall it prosper?⁶⁷⁴³ shall he not pull⁵⁴²³ up the roots⁸³²⁸ thereof, and cut off⁷⁰⁸² the fruit⁶⁵²⁹ thereof, that it wither?³⁰⁰¹ it shall wither³⁰⁰¹ in all the leaves²⁹⁶⁴ of her spring,⁶⁷⁸⁰ even without great¹⁴¹⁹ power²²²⁰ or many⁷²²⁷ people⁵⁹⁷¹ to pluck it up⁵³⁷⁵ by the roots⁸³²⁸ thereof.

Yea, behold, being planted,⁸³⁶² shall it prosper?⁶⁷⁴³ shall it not utterly³⁰⁰¹ wither,³⁰⁰¹ when the east⁶⁹²¹ wind⁷³⁰⁷ toucheth⁵⁰⁶⁰ it? it shall wither³⁰⁰¹ in the furrows⁶¹⁷⁰ where it grew.⁶⁷⁸⁰

Moreover the word¹⁶⁹⁷ of Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ came unto me, saying,⁵⁵⁹

Say⁵⁵⁹ now to the rebellious⁴⁸⁰⁵ house,¹⁰⁰⁴ Know³⁰⁴⁵ ye not what these things mean? tell⁵⁵⁹ them, Behold, the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Babylon⁸⁹⁴ is come⁹³⁵ to Jerusalem,³³⁸⁹ and hath taken³⁹⁴⁷ the king⁴⁴²⁸ thereof, and the princes⁸²⁶⁹ thereof, and led⁹³⁵ them with him to Babylon;⁸⁹⁴

And hath taken³⁹⁴⁷ of the king's⁴⁴¹⁰ seed,²²³³ and made³⁷⁷² a covenant¹²⁸⁵ with him, and hath taken⁹³⁵ an oath⁴²³ of him: he hath also taken³⁹⁴⁷ the mighty³⁵² of the land:⁷⁷⁶

That the kingdom⁴⁴⁶⁷ might be base,⁸²¹⁷ that it might not lift itself up,⁵³⁷⁵ but that by keeping⁸¹⁰⁴ of his covenant¹²⁸⁵ it might stand.⁵⁹⁷⁵

But he rebelled⁴⁷⁷⁵ against him in sending⁷⁹⁷¹ his ambassadors⁴³⁹⁷ into Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ that they might give⁵⁴¹⁴ him horses⁵⁴⁸³ and much⁷²²⁷ people.⁵⁹⁷¹ Shall he prosper?⁶⁷⁴³ shall he escape⁴⁴²² that doeth⁶²¹³ such things? or shall he break⁶⁵⁶⁵ the covenant,¹²⁸⁵ and be delivered?⁴⁴²²

As I live,²⁴¹⁶ saith⁵⁰⁰² my Sovereign¹³⁶ Yahweh,³⁰⁶⁹ surely in the place⁴⁷²⁵ where the king⁴⁴²⁸ dwelleth that made him king,⁴⁴²⁷ whose oath⁴²³ he despised,⁹⁵⁹ and whose covenant¹²⁸⁵ he brake,⁶⁵⁶⁵ even with him in the midst⁸⁴³² of Babylon⁸⁹⁴ he shall die.⁴¹⁹¹

Neither shall Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ with his mighty¹⁴¹⁹ army²⁴²⁸ and great⁷²²⁷ company⁶⁹⁵¹ make⁶²¹³ for him in the war,⁴⁴²¹ by casting up⁸²¹⁰ mounts,⁵⁵⁵⁰ and building¹¹²⁹ forts,¹⁷⁸⁵ to cut off³⁷⁷² many⁷²²⁷ persons:⁵³¹⁵

Seeing he despised⁹⁵⁹ the oath⁴²³ by breaking⁶⁵⁶⁵ the covenant,¹²⁸⁵ when, lo, he had given⁵⁴¹⁴ his hand,³⁰²⁷ and hath done⁶²¹³ all these things, he shall not escape.⁴⁴²²

Therefore thus saith⁵⁵⁹ my Sovereign¹³⁶ Yahweh;³⁰⁶⁹ As I live,²⁴¹⁶ surely mine oath⁴²³ that he hath despised,⁹⁵⁹ and my covenant¹²⁸⁵ that he hath broken,⁶³³¹ even it will I recompense⁵⁴¹⁴ upon his own head.⁷²¹⁸

And I will spread⁶⁵⁶⁶ my net⁷⁵⁶⁸ upon him, and he shall be taken⁸⁶¹⁰ in my snare,⁴⁶⁸⁶ and I will bring⁹³⁵ him to Babylon,⁸⁹⁴ and will plead⁸¹⁹⁹ with him there for his trespass⁴⁶⁰⁴ that he hath trespassed⁴⁶⁰³ against me.

And all his fugitives⁴⁰¹⁵ with all his bands¹⁰² shall fall⁵³⁰⁷ by the sword,²⁷¹⁹ and they that remain⁷⁶⁰⁴ shall be scattered⁶⁵⁶⁶ toward all winds:⁷³⁰⁷ and ye shall know³⁰⁴⁵ that I Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ have spoken¹⁶⁹⁶ it.

Thus saith⁵⁵⁹ my Sovereign¹³⁶ Yahweh;³⁰⁶⁹ I will also take³⁹⁴⁷ of the highest branch⁶⁷⁸⁸ of the high⁷³¹¹ cedar,⁷³⁰ and will set⁵⁴¹⁴ it; I will crop off⁶⁹⁹⁸ from the top⁷²¹⁸ of his young twigs³¹²⁷ a tender one,⁷³⁹⁰ and will plant⁸³⁶² it upon an high¹³⁶⁴ mountain²⁰²² and eminent:⁸⁵²⁴

In the mountain²⁰²² of the height⁴⁷⁹¹ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ will I plant⁸³⁶² it: and it shall bring forth⁵³⁷⁵ boughs,⁶⁰⁵⁷ and bear⁶²¹³ fruit,⁶⁵²⁹ and be a goodly¹¹⁷ cedar:⁷³⁰ and under it shall dwell⁷⁹³¹ all fowl⁶⁸³³ of every wing;³⁶⁷¹ in the shadow⁶⁷³⁸ of the branches¹⁸⁰⁸ thereof shall they dwell.⁷⁹³¹

Jeremiah 1:10

And all the trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ of the field⁷⁷⁰⁴ shall know³⁰⁴⁵ that I Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ have brought down⁸²¹³ the high¹³⁶⁴ tree,⁶⁰⁸⁶ have exalted¹³⁶¹ the low⁸²¹⁷ tree,⁶⁰⁸⁶ have dried up³⁰⁰¹ the green³⁸⁹² tree,⁶⁰⁸⁶ and have made the dry³⁰⁰² tree⁶⁰⁸⁶ to flourish:⁶⁵²⁴ I Yahweh³⁰⁶⁸ have spoken¹⁶⁹⁶ and have done⁶²¹³ it.
